Hump Day Happiness

April 4, 2012

Happy April 4th! Can you belive it’s nearly Easter or that 1/4 of the year is already over??

Here’s some things brining me happiness on this Wednesday, hope they bring you some too!

I spent all afternoon last Sunday working in our front yard. Since we own a townhouse, the yard is small, but it somehow still takes A LOT of work. I cleaned up our flower beds, planted some new flowers and put down mulch. The bulk of my time was spent installing the new brick border that divides the grass from the flower beds. Despite having no idea what I was doing, I’m so happy with the results! It brings a smile to my face every morning when I get in my car for work  (and that’s saying a lot).

Tonight I met up with a dear friend for dinner after work. We headed over to Ted’s Bulletin. It has an upsacle diner theme and looks and feels straight out of the 40’s. They make their own amazing baked good, and the food is delicious (breakfast all day!), but the best thing they have is their adult milkshakes. Yes, a milkshake with liquor in it. YUM, YUM, YUM. I’m broke my processed sugar fast for a “Dirty Girl Scout.” Imagine a thin mint cookie turned into a milkshake with pepperment schnapps. (Those are the actual shakes pictured above)

Since I am obsessed with anything striped these days, I fell madly in love with the above GAP shirt when I saw it on fabulous fashion blogger Veronika from Veronika’s Blushing. Just my (bad) luck, it was no longer available online. I happened to pop into a GAP yesterday and what did I spy? The top! For $2.97!!!  That’s right, $2.97.

As many of my loyal readers know, I LOVE baseball. I’ve been a die-hard Orioles fan since I was a toddler and I used to work for the Nationals in DC. I’m devoted to both teams. In the span of 3o minutes today, I was offered tickets to the Orioles Opening Day and the Nationals Opening Day. Yeah, it’s been a good day.

Two loves of my life: striped shirts (as long as they aren’t yankee pinstripes) and baseball. Happy Baseball, Brie! May the odds be ever in our favor (until the ALCS). Go Indians and go O’s. Small-mid-market teams’ fans should stick together.

If I ever get my hands on Yankee pinstripes, you can be sure I will burn them! Happy Baseball season to you!

Okay, I’m jealous of a) the milkshakes (will have to make them myself) and b) the fact that you were offered Opening Day tickets to not just one team, but for another! I’m not a die hard baseball fan like you, but if someone wants to give me tickets to a game, I’m all over it! 😉

My yard looks exactly like that so no worries. It literally rains here a little bit every day now so it makes it hard to keep up with the yard work. Tilly disappears in the yard when she goes to potty.

The grass is growing like crazy and our homeowners association is supposed to get it cut for us. They must be cutting corners because it never gets trimmed enough!
